When to tune the piano | Print |

The frequency of piano tuning is directly proportional to the quality of the construction of the instrument, the climatic environment in which the instrument is placed, as well as the intensity and the length of time the instrument is played daily.
In any case, the frequency of the tuning (general maintenance) must take place at least once a year, because the seasonal climatic changes bring about an inevitable variation in the relative humidity.
Instruments placed in modern houses are exposed to dehydration caused by central heating and air conditioning, both of which dehydrate even further the environment.
The best advice which I can give is to place a hygrometer near the piano, in order to control the variations in humidity, keeping the inside environment at min/max 40-80%.
